Riddimtion is a Roots, Reggae, and Ragga Sound System based in Sheffield, UK.

 

We are a self-sufficient group of people from different cultures and backgrounds, who combine their individual skills and experiences to create community inspired events, which always have a positive and peaceful atmosphere.

 

We organise, promote and perform nationally and internatonally. We play in pubs, clubs, parks, festivals, free parties, weddings and private functions.

 

Riddimtion’s current full-time members are Rootsfella, Early P, Duncan Disorder, Danny Roots and DJ Vecta plus the wider world family includes a host of talented singers, MC’s, Musician’s, Producers and Creative and Talented People who have helped and contributed over the years…(you know yourselves – BIG UP!) Although the resident line up has fluctuated and changed over time, the philosophy of equal opportunity and understanding of differences has remained central to Riddimtion’s aim.

 

We all share the same enthusiasm and interest for the international message of conscious Reggae Music – we believe that it endorses and promotes the diversity of ideas, skills, culture and creativity.

 

OUR HISTORY

 

Founded in 1999 by Rootsfella and Scragga Youth, Riddimtion has been growing from strength to strength ever since.

 

Over the years, we have had the opportunity to work with and support artists such as Daddy Freddy, U-Brown, Roots Manuva, Winston Reedy, Trevor Walters, YT, Zion Train, Dub Dadda, Nucleus Roots, Blackout JA, Parly B and Abelwell – not forgetting all the DJ’s, singers and other Sound Systems we have played with all around the country and abroad.

 

Riddimtion Sound system covers a wide range of Reggae from Roots, Dancehall, Ska, Rocksteady, Dub and Bashment. Adding more skills as we go, we have recently started writing, producing and performing our own tracks and executing live deck to deck jungle remixes. Although very versatile in our style, we like to keep the music conscious and positive, and reflect the diversity of our audience.

 

Riddimtion’s aim will always be to stand up against segregation, racism and oppression through its musical message of Peace, Love, Unity and Understanding.
